Criteria for inclusion on Judging Lists
Judges will be accepted onto judging lists provided they can satisfy the WFTA Judges Sub Committee that the criteria have been met in line with the Kennel Club Framework Document 2017.

A1 List
For people who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed, have completed their first appointment and have the support of the WFTA.

A2 List
For people who fulfil all the requirements for the A2 list, who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list, and have the support of the WFTA.

A3 List (Breed Specialists)
Requirements include:

  • A minimum of 7 years judging experience in Wire Fox Terriers and have the support of the WFTA.

  • A minimum of seven years activity in the breed. (Activity defined as owning including preparing, trimming, exhibiting and handling in breed classes at Open and Championship Shows etc.).

  • Judged 1 breed Club Open Show.

  • Judged a minimum of 22 classes.

  • To have judged a combined total of 70 wire and smooth fox terriers with a minimum of 40 Wire Fox Terriers.

  • To have attended a Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.

  • To have attended a Points Of The Dog Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.

  • To have attended a seminar by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.

  • To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice for Running of a Breed Seminar and Judging Competence Assessment and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

  • To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

  • To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows (Open and Championship Shows only).

A3 List (Non-Breed Specialists)
Requirements include:

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in any one breed, (to include 5 years in Wire Fox Terriers) and have the support of the WFTA.

  • Judged Wire Fox Terriers at 1 Breed Club Open Show.

  • Judged a minimum of 22 classes of Wire Fox Terriers.

  • To have judged a combined total of 70 wire and smooth fox terriers with a minimum of 40 Wire Fox Terriers.

  • To have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.

  • To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice for the Running of a Breed Seminar and Judging Competence Assessment and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

  • To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

B List (Breed Specialists)
To have:

  • Six years’ experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and have the support of WFTA.

  • Judged 15 dogs of this breed.

  • Attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice for the Running of a Breed Seminar and Judging Competence Assessment and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

B List (Non breed specialists)
To have:

  • A minimum of six years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of WFTA.

  • Judged 15 dogs of this breed.

  • Attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice for the Running of a Breed Seminar and Judging Competence Assessment and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

C List (Breed Specialists)
For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the WFTA.

C List (Non Breed Specialists)
For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the WFTA.
