WIRE FOX TERRIER ASSOCIATION'S WELFARE & RE-HOMING SCHEME

The Wire Fox Terrier Association runs a Wire Fox Terrier Welfare and Re-homing Scheme which deals exclusively with Wires who, for one reason or another, find themselves looking for a new home. Our Scheme will cater only for wires and will be funded initially by the Association though it is hoped that sufficient funds will be generated, eventually, for it to become self-funding. Our prime concern however is, as it has always been, for the welfare of wires.
In addition to helping wires who find themselves in need of a new home, the WFTA Welfare Scheme will also re-home retired show and breeding stock whose owners would like to see them housed in a pet home with a loving family to call their own. These wires would remain where they are until suitable homes are identified.
The Committee hope that members
and visitors will be prepared to help to make this venture a success by,
perhaps, volunteering to help with collection or delivery of a wire coming into
Welfare to a convenient point, short-term fostering, passing on information to
someone you know who has expressed an interest in re-homing an older animal,
etc. Always remember that wires normally live long, healthy lives, are
extremely adaptable and sometimes an older wire is suitable for potential owners
of a certain age who might feel such a dog is more appropriate for them than a
puppy.
Committee members who help with re-homing will always endeavour to place the right dog with the right owners. There is a month's trial and help and advice is just a 'phone call away.
Donations are always more than welcome and every penny given will be put into the Welfare Pot. Points of contact are Elaine Baldwin (Yorks) - 01302-742095: Hazel Bradford (Bucks) 01494-713665: Beryl Kay (Kent) (01732-222248) or Ann Maughan (Tyne & Wear) - 01434-672260
To register your interest in rehoming a wire please contact Beryl Kay in the first instance. It would be greatly appreciated if telephone calls could be made before 7 p.m.
