MEET THE PRESIDENT

WAYNE BOUSEK (BOWYRE)

OUR PRESIDENT

WAYNE BOUSEK  (BOWYRE) U.S.A.

As a boy, Wayne grew up with a pet Wire Fox Terrier.  Upon graduating from college, he purchased his first show Wire, an American bred bitch out of Wildoaks/Crackley breeding.  He won his first Best in Show with this bitch and then became hooked on breeding and showing Wire Fox Terriers.

He imported a Ch. Crackwyn Cockspur son, Ch. Crackwyn Cockfighter, from Bob Barlow to breed to his foundation bitch.  The result of that breeding produced the first Bowyre homebred champion, Ch. Bowyre Cockney Girl, who was a Group winner and top Wire bitch in the country.

In the early sixties, Wayne made the first of what would be many trips to the U.K. in search of breeding stock.  He met many of the breeders and handlers of that golden era and over the years purchased Wires from a number of the good breeders this country had to offer including Mrs. Whitworth, Barbara Jull, Billy Mitchell, Tommy Brampton, Alf Churchill, Tudor Williams, Robin Roberts, Michael Collings and Gerrard Morris.  Most of them are now gone but he will always remember and be grateful for the help and good dogs they were willing to share.

Wayne joined the Wire Fox Terrier Association in 1963.  That was the year of the Jubilee Show for the Association and the dog C.C. winner was Ch. Whitwyre Money Market.  A few years later, Wayne purchased Money Market from Mrs. Whitworth  proved to be a good winner and top sire for the Bowyre Kennels.

Wayne will enjoy judging the club show and thanks the membership for the honour of being elected President of the Wire Fox Terrier Association.
