Ann Wurtzburg

During my childhood on a sheep station in Australia when my sister Lize and I were very young, our parents gave us a wire fox terrier puppy.  Although we were fortunate enough to have owned many different breeds of dogs, Tabs was easily the best.  He never missed an opportunity to chase our precious merinos,  and our mother`s beautiful chickens. All our hens and roosters were minus their feathered plumage.  We often dressed him up in dolls clothes, including a bonnet, and pushed him around in the pram.  He was the star of our birthday parties, always managing to make sure he was the centre of attention.  By the way,  Mother used to have him clipped! There is no doubt that it was with the memory of Tabs in mind that I went in for owning and then showing wire fox terriers in this country - in fact I have three of these great little characters. I am lucky enough to be on the Wire Fox Terrier Association`s committee where I can join with others to promote the breed.  I travel up and down the country entering as many Championship and Club Open shows as I can to help support the breed.  I also organise `Discover Dogs` at Earls Court in London , where, with others who own wires, I can help promote our breed as much as possible.

My love for wire fox terriers began when I was very young because we always had wires at home.  I started showing over 20 years ago and although I keep only a small kennel,  I have been lucky enough to breed and make up 4 champions.

For a number of years I have been a championship show judge, giving CCs in both wires and smooths.   I have also carried out appointments abroad.  I have judged all the fox terrier clubs, the most prestigious being the Wire Fox Terrier Association and the Fox Terrier Club.  I was also privileged to judge wires at Crufts in 2003

JOANNE BRADBURY (BLUWYRE)

I am delighted to have been elected on to the Wire Fox Terrier Association committee.  My involvement with dogs has covered more years than I care to admit.  I commenced with working in a boarding kennel with Vincent Mitchell (Kirkmoor) from the age of 14 until I was 20.  It was during this time that I "met" my first Kerry Blue and was also introduced to wires.   I subsequently worked for a short time in the USA for George Ward (pro-handler).    After producing my children it was time to return to dogs and I purchased a Kerry bitch from the top-winning Akarma Kennel and made her up as owner/handler.   Nine years ago I purchased my very first wire from the world-renowned Blackdale Kennel and have continued with wires ever since.  I now own and show wires for myself and also for a couple of clients.   I am greatly looking forward to serving on the WFTA Committee.
