ANDREW HUNT
It is true to say that I have been amongst fox terriers for as long as I can remember. My first encounter with them was when my mother, Cicely, bought a bitch from Mrs. Creasey as a pet. She then went on to breed and show and I accompanied her. I never visualised that I would not spend my life working with dogs.
I spent my school holidays at Joe Cartledge's kennels and when I left school joined Albert & Mary Langley where I spent four years learning the art of pro handling and putting a wire's coat down as it should be shown. When I left the Langleys I set myself up as a pro-handler and can number Mr. Copley (Caradochouse), Mrs. Williams (Penda) and Bill Bush (Wirescott) amongst my early clients. I feel privileged to have been around in the days when there were so many big kennels in the breed and to have had the opportunity to handle and go over so many really good dogs.
Wires have always been very important to me and now that I have taken over my mother's affix, I am looking forward to the next Dominus wire to enter the show ring. This year, 2008, I reached a milestone when I made up my 100th champion in various breeds. I am also extremely proud to have been elected into the Presidency of the WFTA and will judge the championship show next year. I look forward to serving on the Association's committee.
